Why not just use Discord or Slack?
Use them if free chat is all you need. The trouble starts when the community becomes a business. Discord holds no member emails for you, has no courses and no payments, and the server belongs to Discord. Here chat sits beside your classroom, events, and Stripe-powered memberships, and the whole thing is yours.
Do members get notified of new messages?
Yes. Unread badges and per-thread controls in the app, plus email notifications members tune themselves. Push notifications are available when you wrap the platform in the included mobile app shell.
Can members limit who DMs them?
Yes. DM privacy is a per-member setting, everyone, followers only, or nobody. Per-thread mute and unread badges let members control their own noise too.
Is there message moderation?
Posts and comments run through keyword auto-filters and a report queue. Inside chat the tools are edit, delete, and member-level enforcement. Suspending or banning a member cuts them off everywhere, chat included.
Can I search old messages?
Yes. Full-text search runs across message history, so the link somebody shared three weeks ago takes seconds to find, not a scroll marathon.
Can I import Discord history?
No. There is no Discord importer, and we would rather say that plainly than imply one. Bring your members over with invite links and start the archive fresh, in a database you own this time.
What does it cost to run?
