The math

Own the forum, or rent it for five years.

Skool Pro$99/mo$5,940 + 2.9% fees
Skool Hobby$9/mo + 10% of revenue$540 + 10% of revenue
Seedly Communities$399 once + your own hosting$399 once

Skool prices as publicly listed July 2026, verify before you rely on them. The Hobby bar looks small until you notice the 10% of every member payment riding on top, forever.

How It Works

In plain English.

1

Create categories

Shape the feed around your topics and your tiers.

2

Members post, react, and reply

Everything lands in real time, no refresh.

3

Moderate from one queue

Keyword auto-filters hold or block, reports come to you.

4

Gate what is premium

Lock categories to paid levels and the feed enforces it.

Your discussions are the product. Stop renting the shelf they sit on.

On Skool there is no export path for posts, comments, or community history. Third parties sell scrapers because there is no API for it. Circle's full export is support-assisted and leaves the images out. Years of member conversations are the most valuable thing a community produces, and on a rented platform they are hostage data.

Here the database is yours because the platform is yours. Every post, comment, and poll lands in storage you control, so you can back it up, query it, or move it whenever you like. Skool Pro is $1,188 a year, every year. This whole platform is $399 once.

Every post your members write lands in a database you hold. Nobody can hold your archive hostage.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Can I export everything?

You do not export, you already have it. The platform runs on your accounts and the data lives in a database you control. Back it up, query it, move it. Compare that with Skool, where posts and comments have no export path at all.

Is this a forum or a social feed?

Both, honestly. It reads like a modern social feed with threads, reactions, and polls, and it organizes like a forum with categories and access control. What it is not is a 2005 message board.

Can I gate parts of the feed to paying members?

Yes. Categories carry access control by member level, so a member who has not unlocked a tier does not see its spaces. Paid stays paid, and the feed enforces it automatically.

How does moderation work?

Keyword auto-filters hold or block posts and comments before they land, members report content with reason codes, and everything funnels into one admin moderation queue. Suspend and ban cascade across the whole platform.

Can I move my Skool or Circle community here?

Your member list, yes. Invite links and email invites make bringing people over straightforward. Your content history is the honest catch. No automated importer exists, so plan to re-seed your cornerstone posts by hand. That is a weekend of work, not a rewrite.

What does it cost to run?

The license is $399 once. After that you pay your own hosting and the accounts the platform runs on, which for a typical community lands in the tens of dollars a month, not hundreds. There is no per-member fee and no cut of your revenue.

Do I need a developer?

Not for day-to-day use, and not necessarily for setup either. The step-by-step documentation walks through every account and key. If you can follow a checklist, you can stand it up, and [email protected] answers the rest.
